Skin Boosters vs Mesotherapy: Which Suits Your Skin?

Mesotherapy injections at Sydenham Aesthetic Clinic

If you are looking to improve your skin rather than change your features, you will come across several treatments that sound quite similar. Skin boosters and mesotherapy both aim to improve skin quality and radiance, and both are delivered into the skin, so it is easy to see why people find them hard to tell apart. This guide explains the difference in practical terms.

What they have in common

Both treatments belong to the family of skin quality treatments rather than volumising ones. Neither is intended to change the shape of your face. Both aim to improve hydration and how healthy and radiant your skin looks, and both tend to produce gradual results that develop as the skin responds. This is why they are often mentioned in the same breath.

Understanding skin boosters

Skin boosters deliver hydration deep into the skin using hyaluronic acid. They can be tailored to a particular area and concern, which makes them a good choice when you want to target something specific such as texture, fine lines or a lack of glow in a defined zone. Because they can be adapted to the individual, they suit patients with a focused concern.

Understanding mesotherapy

Face mesotherapy delivers hydration and nourishment into the skin with the aim of supporting its overall condition and radiance. It tends to be described as a gentler, more general approach, often chosen by people whose main concern is dullness or dehydration and who like the idea of a subtle, gradual improvement. It can be a good introduction for someone new to skin treatments.

How the choice is usually made

In broad terms, skin boosters are often favoured where there is a specific area or concern to target, while mesotherapy is often chosen for a general lift in radiance and hydration. That said, this is a genuine simplification. Your skin type, the nature of your concern and what you want to achieve all influence the recommendation, and in some cases another treatment entirely would serve you better. The honest answer is that this is decided properly in person.

Why an assessment beats reading about it

Skin is individual, and two people describing the same concern in the same words can need different approaches. Dr Mirali Patel, who is registered with the General Medical Council and holds a Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine, will assess your skin in person, explain what each option can realistically achieve for you, and recommend only what genuinely suits your concern.

Results and aftercare

With both treatments, results build gradually rather than appearing at once, and a short course is sometimes recommended for the best effect. You will receive clear aftercare guidance and will always have a point of contact at the clinic if you have questions once you are home.

Finding out which suits your skin

If you would like brighter, better hydrated skin but are unsure which route to take, a consultation will clarify it. You are welcome at the Streatham clinic or the Sydenham clinic.
