No Licence Is Currently Required
In England, there is currently no licensing requirement for cosmetic injectables. Someone with no medical training can legally offer these treatments. A government licensing scheme is being developed, but it is not yet in force.
Complications Need a Prescriber
Rare complications can require immediate treatment with prescription-only medicines. Only a medical prescriber can obtain and administer these. A non-medical injector cannot, and would need to send you elsewhere in an emergency.
Doctors Are Accountable
Doctors are regulated by the General Medical Council, must carry appropriate insurance, and are held to strict professional standards. If something goes wrong with an unregulated provider, you may have little recourse.
